BLOODi - Whole Blood Imaging
The project BLOODi will develop a dynamic hemogram that enables the investigation of full blood infection models by optical technologies. In contrast to currently used methods, the dynamic hemogram will provide additional information regarding the motility and interactions of the blood cells. This information will be tested for its potential use as biomarker for the characterization of different pathogens in the full blood infection model. The project not only strives to gain basic knowledge in infection biology and optics, it furthermore keeps the long term transfer into diagnostic and therapeutic applications in mind.
